Who are we?

We were incorporated under the laws of the State of California on May 19, 1967. Our thrift stores comprise a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charitable organization whose proceeds from the sale of usable discards are used to support disabled American veterans, through a variety of successful programs. Some of our programs are: The Transportation Program, Department Service Officers and Veterans Medical Center- V.A. Hospital, La Jolla, Ca.

Service to the Community

The D.A.V. is also a large contributor to local charities that assist our Disabled American Veterans. These charities in turn, assist our veterans. To learn more about our service to the community, please visit our Charity Services page.

Weekly sales reports are provided to our General Manager and to our Board of Directors. Certified accountants issue annual reports itemizing our operations, sales and our charitable disbursements.

Self Supporting

Our sales support our overhead and all our expenses, as well as provide the means by which we serve the Disabled American Veteran.

We are not recipients of government aid, tax aid or public funds of any kind. We comply with all regulations involving Charitable Trust Laws of the State of California.

The Purpose
